Viscosity

It's a simple fact that the more fluid an oil is, the easier it is to pump. That's why Temple University's Prof. Rongjia Tao has developed a device that reduces the viscosity of crude oil by electrifying it.

A decades-long experiment at Trinity College Dublin has been caught in the act of providing a new data point. Pitch is a (very) viscous liquid, with a viscosity of 20-100 billion times the viscosity of water.
