Lights out: Island of Niue becomes world's first "dark sky" nation

The International Dark-Sky Association is a non-profit dedicated to safeguarding night skies for future generations to enjoy, and has just granted its first designation that covers an entire country, the small Pacific island nation of Niue.

Floating park built using recycled waste plastic opens in Rotterdam

As the Ocean Cleanup Project readies its floating barriers for collecting waste plastic from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a similarly green project much closer to its home has opened a floating park in Rotterdam's harbor. The Recycled Park features connected blocks made from waste plastic.
