As part of its mission to tackle plastic pollution in the marine environment, The Ocean Cleanup project plans to sell goods made from the waste it recovers to fund its ongoing operations, and has just unveiled its very first product.

British company Circular & Co presents a reusable coffee mug that's reused the very first time you fill it ... because it's made from recycled paper coffee cups. The mug itself is also recyclable so will continue its journey after its life is over.

A lot of raw material goes into the making of footwear, so the less that can be used, the better for the environment. Nike's new Space Hippie shoes were designed with that in mind, as they're composed largely of recycled materials.

Adidas has teamed with Parley for the Ocean to create footwear from trash harvested from the world's oceans. The initiative was launched during a talk at the UN and Adidas has created a prototype of the shoe. The real thing is expected to launch later this year.

Australian company Zeo has developed and patented a glue-free process that creates a strong, versatile new building material out of just cellulose and water. The resulting hardwood-like material known as Zeoform can then be sprayed, molded or shaped into a range of products.
