NASA is testing a quadcopter equipped with a miniature methane gas sensor originally designed for testing the Martian atmosphere to seek gas pipeline leaks.

The ESA has tested a novel system that may allow the agency to safely land rovers on Mars using a quadcopter-like dropship. A fully automated, proof of concept Skycrane prototype was created with hardware largely derived from commercially available quadcopter components.

Researchers at the University of Minnesota have done away with all that tedious joystick work by developing a mind-controlled quadcopter that users can manipulate by imagining they are opening or closing their fists.
