Car manufacturers are racing to get their electric cars onto the market, but they're also keen to get their batteries into family homes. Tesla has made its Powerwall plans clear, and Mercedes has been talking a big game with its energy storage systems, which will be showing up in UK homes soon.

Tesla recently did it, and now Daimler is doing it too – it's launching its own home/business battery energy storage system. The Mercedes-Benz energy storage unit utilizes lithium-ion battery modules to store energy generated by solar cells, wind turbines or other sources.
