Braille

Researchers from the Faculty of Engineering at Israel's Bar Ilan University have developed a prototype contact lens which processes digital images and translates them into tactile sensations to be felt on the user's cornea, allowing them to form a picture of their physical surroundings.

Researchers are working to develop a full-page, refreshable Braille display that would allow the blind to take full advantage of the Web and other computer applications.

Vision impaired users can now access books, news articles and web pages using RoboBraille - an email-based service that translates text into Braille and audio recordings.
